Who it's for
Best for
Budget-minded savers who want 30-50 GB of cloud space without paying
Freelancers sharing large project files that need fast, ad-free download links
Not for
Collectors pulling large multi-part game archives through the free tier
Privacy-focused downloaders whose VPN connection drains the free quota
Features
Zero-knowledge encryption
Files are protected with zero-knowledge encryption, so stored and shared data appears encrypted and stays unreadable without the authorised keys.
Sharing with access controls
Folders can be shared with read-only or full access, and share links can carry a password or an expiry date.
Sync across all devices
Desktop, mobile and web apps open the same cloud files, and syncing or backing up a computer replicates changes in real time.
MEGA VPN included
MEGA VPN provides unlimited, full-speed traffic with built-in ad blocking and modern encryption for a more private connection.
MEGA Pass password manager
MEGA Pass generates complex passwords and autofills logins and payment details across devices, stored with zero-knowledge encryption.
What users say
Pros
- Free cloud storage ranges from 30 to 50 GB without a paid subscription.
- Downloads arrive faster than on rival file hosts that throttle free transfers.
- Shared links open straight to the file with no redirect pages or virus pop-ups.
Cons
- Free transfer quotas of about 3 GB halt downloads for hours once reached.
- VPN connections burn through the transfer quota, requiring a disconnect and IP change to continue.
- Games split into twenty 2 GB parts take hours to pull from the free tier.
- The service has degraded over the past year, to the point that stored files need a new home.
