What users say
Pros
- Custom domain email hosting works reliably for personal and small-business mail.
- A family plan supplies 2TB of storage for a household's Apple devices.
- iCloud email handles personal, medical and financial correspondence, with aliases for signups.
- Photos can be downloaded from iCloud.com to a Windows PC with the download button.
Cons
- The free 5GB allowance fills quickly, and low storage blocks incoming email until a paid plan is bought.
- Large photo libraries take several nights to upload, and partial backups leave many photos unsynced.
- Bulk photo downloads are capped at 1,000 images, with no fast path inside the Photos app.
- Checking iCloud email on a computer requires a code from an iPhone, and codes sometimes never arrive.
- The spam filter blocks legitimate messages, including mail with a website link in the footer.
- iCloud Drive can remove local files during sync, leaving linked projects broken and data missing.
